Foundation to looking great By SUNITA CHHABRA

WHO would say no to smooth-looking, radiant skin? However, the best way to see whether a product delivers the results you like is by testing it yourself.

Here’s the verdict of three sporting women who not only tried Estée Lauder’s So Ingenious Multi-Dimension Powder Make-up, but were also willing to go for a makeover and see how they could look with the help of expert make-up artists.

Janice Lau, 28: This spirited lady is an entrepreneur who specialises in events organisation with a difference. She also indulges in the creative arts and says that whenever she sees an idea materialise, she derives great satisfaction from it.

Her verdict: The powder is very soft, smooth and easy to apply. It’s also convenient and handy. Unlike normal foundations, one does not see patches as it’s so fine. This powder is especially good for women with big pores as it covers the pores nicely. I like the silky side of the applicator as it’s natural, and I find that the compact powder can be used as a loose powder too. It’s also great for touch-ups. The other velvety side gives more coverage. I like the softness and texture of the applicator. I feel it helps save the foundation; and as there’s no wastage, it’s economical. After a few hours, my skin tends to get quite oily. I feel this powder can absorb excess oil. With some foundation, I find my skin oily after a while. With this one, it’s only in the late evening that I can see a bit of oiliness.

Zabedah, 31: This sweet lady, an accounts assistant, was a bit shy and we had to persuade her to relax in front of the camera before we could get a picture that reflected her true personality.

Her verdict: The compact powder felt smooth and natural. After I had put it on, I didn’t even realise it was there. I’ve been using the silky part of the applicator. I like the natural look.

Shanti Devi Bangah, late-30s: An account manager with a lovely personality, Shanti was willing to give the powder and makeover a try as she had been toying with the idea of doing something like this.

Her verdict: The compact powder was smooth and easy to apply. It felt comfortable too, and I liked the texture. It has a long-lasting effect and it was good that there were no unsightly patches of powder, which you get after a while with some foundations.
